Cleveland-Hopkins International (CLE), in conjunction with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and the Cleveland Department of Public Health, will offer flu shots to travelers through Nov. 24.
“We are excited to once again provide flu shots to our traveling public for a second year. It was extremely successful last year and I wanted to provide the shots again this year,” says Airport Director Ricky Smith. “We appreciate the efforts of the public health departments to partner with us on this worthwhile customer service and expect CLE passengers to take full advantage of this service.”
Shots will be given from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays, on the post-security side of Checkpoint C across from Gate C2; they will cost $25. Paramedics from the airport’s firefighting and rescue squads also will give free blood pressure checks from 10 a.m. to noon. “It’s truly a win-win situation,” says Health Commissioner Terry Allen. “Business travelers clearly appreciate the convenience of getting the flu vaccine right here at CLE, and preventing the flu is our business. Last year, the partnership was very successful, and we anticipate strong interest again this flu season.” For customers who cannot access secure areas, shots will be offered at the Welcome Center area on the baggage claim level on Mondays from 1 to 2 p.m.
“Last year, many airport guests could not take advantage of the flu shot program because the booth was beyond the security checkpoint. We thought we would accommodate the requests and provide a venue for non-traveling guests to take advantage of the program,” Smith says.
